Based in Wellington's rugged Akatarawa Ranges, 10k north of Upper Hutt City, the Bluebridge Karapoti Classic is New Zealand's premier mountain bike event.

Bluebridge Karapoti Classic

Established in 1986, the Karapoti Classic is the longest running mountain bike race in the Southern Hemisphere. Based in Upper Hutt’s rugged Akatarawa Ranges near Wellington, the course is an old-school adventure ride featuring huge hills and river crossings amid remote and rugged forest trails.

An uncompromising yet exhilarating and achievable 50km of 4WD trails, gnarly single track, wheel sucking sludge, raging river crossings, wall to wall wilderness and huge hills that'll have you grinding a granny ring up and grinning like a goon on the way down.

In short, "The Classic" has something for everyone and with a bit of training almost everyone can achieve it... Almost!

Not limited to the Classic the options for the Karapoti also include the 20K Challenge and Kids 5K Klassic.
